Very Exciting All Local Market Store Coming to Georgetown August 4, 2010

Do you go to one Farmer’s Market for Richardson Farms Pork, another Market to find Way Back When Dairy, the grocery store for White Mountain Yogurt, and Stonewall Texas for Becker Vineyards wine?  Ok, so I know some of Becker’s wines are sold around town – I was just exaggerating to make my point.  Wouldn’t it be lovely if the above products and just about every other locally produced food, including many not found at farmer’s markets were all together in one store?  And, you can go there seven days a week?  And it is inside, in a charming building.  Enter Pattie Meyers, the market manager for the upcoming Monument Market Store, opening September 7th in Georgetown, at the original Monument Cafe building.

Pattie has assembled perhaps the most impressive list of local products I’ve ever seen in one locale.  Many of my farmer’s market favorites, as well as many of my old local grocery store favorites that I haven’t seen since I stopped going to the grocery store.  This list includes locally brewed beer and local wines and will include lots of local produce vendors as well.

The list is growing each day, but as of my most recent communication with Pattie, it included:

Cianfrani Coffee, Coyote Moon Coffee, Independence Brewing, Maine Root, Nile Valley Herbs, Real Ale Brewing, Texas Coffee Traders, Zhi Tea, Brazos Valley Cheese, Eagle Mountain Farmhouse Cheese, Veldhuizen Cheese, Texas Daily Harvest Cheese, Ana’s Foods, Austin Spice Company, Bost Bees Honey, Round Rock Honey, Fischer & Wieser, Kala’s Kuisine, Onion Cr. Kitchens at Juniper Hills Farm, Sanderson Specialty Foods, Tex Med, TexaFrance, Texas Traditions, Texas Wild, Winston’s Hot Pepper Sauce, Homestead Grist Mill, Texmati Rice, Richardson Farms Grain, Dr. Kracker, El Milagro, Margarita’s Tortillas, Beanitos, Tweeds, Vital Farms Eggs, Way Back When Dairy, Texas Daily Harvest Dairy, White Mountain Yogurt, Lucky Layla,  Austin Gourmet Foods Pasta, Kakawa Cocoa Beans, Gourmet Texas Pasta, Hope and Glory, Sticky Toffee Pudding, Texas Olive Ranch, Texas Hill Country Olive Country, Richardson Farms Meats, Sastex Beef Meats, SedaFrance candles, South Austin People Soap, Gabriel Valley Farms Bedding Plants, MiracleMoo Compost, Elgin Sausage Co., Hudson’s Sausage Co., Alamosa, Becker, Brennan Brix, Fall Creek, Flat Creek Estate, Llano, McPherson Cellars, Sister Creek, and Texas Hills wineries.

I’m impressed, excited, and excited for this venture!

  1. Happy to say that Tecolote Farm has joined this list! Pattie bought some produce from us at the Cedar Park Market on Saturday, and has ordered a bunch of goodies for the store. Delivering tonight!

  2. Drove by the original Monument cafe soon to be grocery…..looks very dark and empty. Is this the right place?

  3. From what I can gather, it’s not actually in the old monument cafe. But right next door to the new one? i’m so confused.
