Community gardening is on the rise in Austin! Join us for the 3rd Annual Austin Community Gardening Tour on Saturday, April 28th, from 12 – 4pm. This free, friendly-to-all-ages, open-house style tour provides the opportunity to visit an inspiring array of gardens throughout the Austin area where participants are growing food and growing community together. Get on your bike, in your car, or on your feet and check out this showcase of urban food-growing strategies! Enjoy instructional talks, celebrations, kids’ activities, and the opportunity to get your hands dirty by helping at a work day along the way. Presented by: The Coalition of Austin Community Gardens, Sustainable Food Center, the City of Austin Sustainable Urban Agriculture and Community Garden Program, and the Congress for the New Urbanism. Celebration of Community Gardening at Kenny Dorham’s Backyard. Join us after the 3rd Annual Austin Community Gardening Tour at Kenny Dorham’s Backyard, 1106 E. 11th St., from 6 – 9 pm to celebrate the blossoming of our city’s community garden movement! Enjoy local food at a potluck picnic and learn what’s been going on in the world of community gardens over the past year from the City of Austin’s Sustainable Urban Agriculture and Community Garden Coordinator and Coalition of Austin Community Gardens representatives. Then dance to infectious beats from The Flyin’ A’s under the light of a moontower.

Y’all should consider scheduling this event on another day in the future with Eeyore’s B-Day and many other events on this day. COA and community event planners should consider slotting events in the fall when there is not as much competition for events. Regards.
